Iowa Concrete Products Company
A part of Maquoketa since 1926.

Frank Regner started constructing concrete burial vaults in Monmouth, Iowa in 1919. The manufacturing plant was located on the same street as Regner's home. Frank's son, Franklin later joined the Regner business and helped to carry it on. In 1952 the Regner and Son business was sold to two brothers, John and Donald Hoffman. At that time, the present business name, Iowa Concrete Products, was adopted.

Soon after assuming ownership, the brothers moved to the present location of the business on highway 64 West and constructed the original building. Don left the partnership and John became the sole owner until the business was sold to Betty Franklin in 1962. While the Hoffman's owned the business, they expanded the operation by manufacturing various sizes of septic tanks. It was during the ownership of the Franklins that the firm again expanded its product line by manufacturing agricultural products, such as various sizes of feed bunkers.


In 1984 Olin Quissell and Barry Francois formed a partnership and decided to purchase the company. Various liners are now offered for the concrete burial vaults, including liners made of copper, fiberglass, stainless steel, and polished styrene. Now the firm is a distributor and sales-agency for the monument line of the J. P. Vincent & Son Company of Galena, Illinois. In 1987 the Francois share of the business was purchased by Mr. Quissell and he is now the sole owner.

Olin Continued to expand the product line as the demand for precast concrete increased. Agricultural products such as
concrete-wall and free standing fence in heights of 36, 42, 48 and 54 inches were added to satisfy the need to divide
livestock pens and lots. They also used these walls for grain storage and for dividing commodities such as feed, fertilizer,
landscaping and manure. And these walls were used as holding bunkers for various other products. Coverall hoop buildings have been added to the walls. The concrete feed bunks were expanded to 4 different styles of fence line and yard type bunks.

As the economy grew, construction expanded the housing in rural counties. Concrete septic tanks were increased in size to meet the new DNR regulations. Larger tanks such as 1250 square feet to 1500 gallons (16,000 pounds) were manufactured to meet these needs.

Burial vaults have continued to be the main product manufactured at Iowa Concrete Products Company. Updates have been added in sizes, colors, and decore, to compliment the grave side services. Cremation vaults were added to the line as cremation rates increased. Iowa Concrete Products distributes burial vaults and septic tanks around the 75 mile radius of Maquoketa. Our agricultural products are shipped up to 300 miles. This is done with a fleet of 9 trucks and 5 trailers. Olin is starting his 27th summer in the business with the loyal help of 6 fulltime employees.

With a starting date of 1919, Iowa Concrete Products has serviced and supplied quality products to Monmouth, Iowa for over 91 years.
